In the year 1921, the Kharkiv Medical Academy established a department of odontology which was named as Ukrainian Medical Stomatological academy. After some years in 1963 Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy was shifted to the city of Poltava and the academy was renamed as Poltava State Medical and Dental Institute. This shift and rename were done because of the continuous progress of the academy in terms of study techniques and extremely qualified teaching staff, high-quality education, etc.
